Stuff Mikey Says, Vol. 9

Mikey Darth hat

On patriotism

Mom, check it out. I have a wallet in my back pocket and I’m holding a gadget. I’m a real American citizen!

//////////////////////////////////

On trends

Um, mom? Can I please wear something a little cooler? And I’m not talking about the weather, either. [He's not talking about the Darth Vader hat! --Jules]

//////////////////////////////////

On coincidence

Mom, I waved my hand like this and the light turned yellow. I can’t decide if it was a coincidence or if I’m magic.

//////////////////////////////////

On coincidence, ii

A coincidence, Nico, is when something totally awkward happens that kind of surprises you and you’re, like, whaa?! It’s also when two unrelated events happen simultaneously.

    Some of the best quotes ever . . .

    I love these postings!

    Well most assuredly it’s not the hat. The hat is amazing.

    So funny and so smart . . . what a great combination!

  5. Susan G says:

    You are most definitely magic, Mikey! In so many ways. :)

  6. Jenn says:

    Magical events are often found to b on the rise after reading Harry Potter, much like the power of the force is ever-present after a fledgling Jedi is introduced to Luke.
    Love the image of what being American really means ;)
    Is Mikey (almost) ten? I feel a similarity between he and my little S (I know that Nico and O are the same age).

    • Jules says:

      Close! He is 8.5. He turns 9 in June. :)

      • Jenn says:

        Ah, my girl will be 10 in August. A solid year’s difference! (She still shows no signs of wanting to be ‘cooler’… much to my relief and surprise). She’s steadfastly sticking to fantasy books, mathematics, and a little dabbling in science. Which is a-ok by me.

  7. Ah, life through a little man’s eyes. Thanks for bringing a smile to my face! :)

  8. His explanation of coincidence was a perfect mix of adorable, cute kid language and clever, sophisticated explanation. You must be so proud!

Hi! I’m Jules.

I used to be an attorney, but it made me grumpy. Now I write about life, sweet and savory, as a wife and mother to two small boys. My knowledge of dinosaurs knows no bounds.

You can read more, including the meaning behind the name Pancakes and French Fries here. And, yes, I really am phenomenally indecisive.
