The Captain’s First Sail

Although he would eventually sail across every sea twice and then once more, Captain Wentworth would forever remember his first sail. His mother would remember it, too, especially the moment when he stood at the starboard bow with his face in the wind and screamed “Faster! Faster!” for all the world to hear.

[More Captain Wentworth, and Professor Wentworth, too.]

Ah, I’ve quite missed reading the adventures of the great Captain Wentworth!

Me, too! I stopped doing them for a while and then saw that someone pinned an old one a while back. I don’t know why I stopped doing them. Probably worried that they were kind of silly.

Gorgeous picture! And now I’ve gone back and read all the Captain and Professor Wentworth posts for a smile on a grey, wet (thank you Hurricane Isaac) Monday morning. Thank you and welcome back!

    • Jules says:

Oh, your hurricane must be why it was a delicious 65° here this morning. It was bliss.

Sounds amazing. We aren’t hurrican-ey enough to have stayed home today – just wet and really really really (REALLY) muggy.

Have you read Henrietta Laks yet? I was afraid of not liking it (non-fiction and all that) but it is an amazingly engaging read – maybe because the author is a journalist In other words, no reason to be scared, lol!

    Delicious!

ALWAYS in a mood to hear a good Captain Wentworth tale;)

  5. I hear Captain Wentworth and I think Persuasion.

    • Jules says:

It’s one of my favorite books of all time. :) I have a total crush on Captain Wentworth.

I’m currently re-reading Persuasion – it’s even better when you have Ciaran Hinds’ Wentworth in mind while reading. *swoon*

Looking forward to more adventures of the Captain and his brother!

I hadn’t encountered any of your Captain Wentworth posts yet. I went back and read your other CW posts, and I love them. You really are a very talented writer. (In fact, I thought the beginning might be a line from Persuasion.) Your posts so often make me smile.

  7. Susan says:

    What a happy post. LOVE.

Hi! I’m Jules.

I used to be an attorney, but it made me grumpy. Now I write about life, sweet and savory, as a wife and mother to two small boys. My knowledge of dinosaurs knows no bounds.

You can read more, including the meaning behind the name Pancakes and French Fries here. And, yes, I really am phenomenally indecisive.
