I finally organized myself enough on Sunday to take my walk at 6:30pm instead of my usual 7:00pm. This gave me enough time to add an additional mile to my walk, which I dropped when it started getting dark by 7:20pm and my heartless neighbors put the fear of coyotes in me. It felt great to log in just over 2 miles, which I know doesn’t sound much, but over the course of 30 days it’s almost 70 miles. It adds up.
Check it out: I have legs! The first picture isn’t the most flattering angle, but I was trying to capture all the colors I wear while I walk; my flagrant disregard for matching; and that I finally bought some capri compression pants, again from Old Navy. The capris have made such a difference during the heat wave we had this past week. You would think a few inches wouldn’t make such a difference, but the thought of wearing my usual pants makes me feel claustrophobic.
The shoes…they’re fine. My arches still hurt every now and then, which is a disappointment since my last Nike Frees were the first sneakers to ever feel good on my arches. I’ve been given some recommendations on inserts on Instagram, so I guess that’s the next step. (No pun intended, for crying out loud.)
I’ve been listening to Spotify, even though I still don’t really get it or know what I’m doing. Right now, I’m using it like Pandora. The Johnny Cash Walk the Line station is excellent. Besides old country, which I love and reminds me of my childhood, back when everything just kind of ended up on the radio and we barely had FM, they play my favorite classic rock, folk rock, and some old alternative like The Kinks and Billy Idol. I don’t know if it’s because I’m such a trigger finger with the unlike/like button that the station is completely tuned into my tastes, but my walks have been awesome music-wise. It’s part of the reason I made sure to get out there early on Sunday. I wanted more time to listen to music!
I’m now at 252 days. I can’t believe how close I am to hitting the 300s. The year is almost over!

This week especially, I admire your daily walking. The heat was hellish, even in the mornings. Even the capris are too much fabric to think about! ;)

Keep up the good work!

Yay for capris – I wear them almost year-round here! One thing I used to do when shoes hurt my arches was to wear two pairs of socks – decent exercise socks that hug the arch of your foot. It made a huge difference.
So impressed by your walking this year – and I can’t believe it’s getting that close to a full year!
