What goes through my mind when I take pictures
The fuzzy purple of this flowering sage matches the grayish, cold weather. I like the way it gives the concrete a lavender tint.
I can’t believe I left the house without pinning back my bangs. This wind is ridiculous and annoying. Hey, this little pine branch thingy kind of looks like a broom!
Good thing this is on the sidewalk and not on the street where I could have stepped into it and hurt myself. Of course, there was that one walk where I stepped in the sewer pipe because it was covered with leaves, and that was on someone’s lawn. If I stepped in this would I break my ankle or just sprain it badly? What if I got a compound fracture! What if I hurt myself so badly I couldn’t move! Who would I call? Would I have to call 911, or just a regular ambulance? Or do I call [my neighbor] and have her pick the kids up and then me? I’m freaking out. Time to start thinking about something ridiculous. (A different kind of ridiculous.)
I’m half a block from home and I don’t think I’m going to find any–hello, camo hat in the street. Huh. This reminds me of the hat Nico wore for career day. The hat that little punk made fun of him for wearing. I don’t like that little punk’s hair.
Okay, well, at least I found that birdbath, because that’s going to have to be the picture for today. What the? A floral pillow with plaid trim, and I think that print was my high school bedspread. I loved that bedspread. I bet this print is popular in 5 years. I’m surprised a scout for Forever 21 isn’t lying in wait in the bushes.
I really hope I get all our feet in this picture because I can’t see crap.
I don’t remember when we chopped down this camilia bush…8 years ago? But we left it just a nub at ground level and here it is, back and stronger than ever. Ready to bloom! I wish everything we planted was so hardy. I should look up camilias and see what growing conditions they like, find plants that prefer the same conditions, and fill the bed that way. A little bit cheating, a little bit possibly the best idea ever.
Happy Veterans Day to all our troops, past and present.
Song of the week
Dancing in the Dark — Bruce Springsteen
I wore this tape out in 8th grade while everyone else–including my future best friend–listened to Duran Duran. Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows how I feel about Duran Duran and Justin Timberlake. {{shudder}} I still remember the first time I saw this video and me, being a naive middle school kid, thought it was a video of a real concert, and I remember thinking it was such a coincidence that the camera panned to the girl Bruce Springsteen would later pick to dance with him! What are the odds?! I remember thinking Bruce Springsteen had the best traveling camera man ever and is in super shape because he didn’t even break a sweat. Look at all that Molly Ringwald “dancing” he did!
Years later the TV show Friends would become a popular and there was Courtney Cox, Bruce’s lucky dance partner. Still optimistic and naive, for a split second I actually thought, wow, this girl was born at the end of a rainbow! And then: wait a minute…

When this song came out, I thought the Boss was soooo old, now looking at it, I can’t help but think, my goodness, look at how young he is. Perspective.
The shots and comments you’ve made, somehow you are my stream of consciousness doppelganger. Scary.

“what are the odds?” hahaha

The long and short is you can still become known as a
credible source of information by simply using the curating process.
The best example of this is an infomercial that entices a consumer to call
and place an order. If you take up affiliate marketing, you will find thousands of companies
willing to take you as an affiliate without charging you anything.
