What a great week. The suburbs! The suburbs are alive with the sound of music!
Monday
Mikey received a clean bill of health from the doctor. He read Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire while we waited and Nicholas drew a World War II battle scene on the table paper. I read The Historian. (So good. So scary.)
Tuesday
Mikey went back to school for the first time in a week. His teacher sent me an email in the morning saying that she could tell he felt well. When I asked her how she could tell, she said it was because he was so, so happy. That made me happy.
Wednesday
Tristan and I had a chance to talk on the phone, which is always nice. It’s strange how irregularly we get to chat now that she lives across the country. Her blog is so lovely and her pins on pinterest are so well curated–she calls pinterest her second blog–and her shop, well, everyone knows her taste is impeccable. She told me my photography was improving and that I was developing a recognizable look. A look! A look, and I can only presume it’s a good one! I was happier than Sally Field on Oscar night.
Thursday
Yes, Nico, I will still need you and feed you when you’re sixty-four.
Friday
The Craft Cabinet now has a Facebook page! We’ll be unveiling a new website soon, but for now Andrea and I encourage you to like us there on Facebook if you would like updates on upcoming events and links to crafty things…and stuff. (Walking Dead reference. Sorry.) Anyway, can you believe it? Me, a partner in a venture that is all about socializing! Oh, the irony.
The Weekend
Baseball practice. Craft Cabinet stuff. Reading. Relaxing. Walking. Shopping for the boys’ room. Freezer cooking?
Have a happy weekend, everyone.

That performance was brilliant (Paul McCartney would love to be that cute again!). And you have a beautiful laugh.
Jules says
Thank you so much, Shelley. :) I was trying to hold it in, but come on. Impossible!

Ah, freezer cooking. There are few things that make me feel more productive than putting up a bunch of meals I know my family will love on a busy day, and nothing that feels more comforting than a stocked freezer. I prefer making a freezing: pot pie, turkey meatloaf, and lasagna. I have a recipe for chicken enchiladas I need to give a try. Might do that today and throw them in.
Jules says
We’ll see! I have that cookbook. The frozen breakfasts were a lifesaver, so I’m definitely looking at those. That reminds me, I need to use the random generator to pick a winner…
Devon says
Oh my goodness. Thank you for that video. It absolutely made my day! What a precious little nugget!!!
Jules says
Haha. The word nugget made me laugh. Good word choice.
Cheyenne says
Nico made my Friday :)
Jules says
That’s funny, because he made my Thursday. ;)
Seriously Sassy Mama says
Freezer cooking is something I would like to try. Maybe I will out it on the menu for next weeks grocery shopping expedition.
Jules says
Good luck! I’m still intimidated.

I was just going to say that I LOVE this photo of Nico and then I saw this:
“I was happier than Sally Field on Oscar night.”
You are both hilarious + talented and obviously have great taste in friends;) Thank you for the kind words and for always making me laugh. Your blog is a happy place and even when you are in the throes of your worse day you have a sharp observant eye and a wit that is on par with the best of the observant and witty writers.
Jules says
Aw, thanks. (But let’s not get crazy.) ;)
Carrie @ Busy Nothings says
I love Wednesday’s update. It makes me happy. :)
Jules says
It was high praise, that’s for sure!
Michelle says
Can I please have nico? Please. Please. He is the best.
Monica says
Are you kidding? Big smile on this face. What a sweetheart! Great to read that Mikey is well (and happy). Have a lovely weekend!
Jenn says
Oh crikey, that Nico is just the sweetest little boy! Glad that Mikey is his ‘old’ self again. What a lovely family, what a great Mama. Have a fantabulous weekend, enjoy those beautiful walks :)
Kelly says
Oh my goodness. My eyes made little Nico-triangles watching him sing. And say “birfday.” So sweet.
And glad Mikey’s fever is gone!
Robin Jingjit says
That video was stinkin adorable!! My boys asked: is that my penpal??? If nico is looking for a penpal, I guess I know some interested party.
Lianne says
Nico is a shining star.
Jules says
Flattering me about my boys is pretty much a straight shot into my good graces. ;) I’ll be sure to host many giveaways and rig them so that you all win.
Holly says
I have read your blog for a while, and my favorite posts are the Mikey says…I laugh so much every time! Now little Nico on here with this song – your kids are awesome! I hope my little boy can grow up to be as cute and happy as yours :)
Cara says
LOL, I almost didn’t click on the video because I rarely ever click on video links (leftover fear of a bogged down computer/internet connection from the dial-up days)…but so glad I did! That was cute! And made me realize I should tape my kids more. Or at all. I have tons of pictures but that will do nothing for remembering their little voices….
