I took the boys to see the space shuttle Endeavour on Friday. I was supposed to go with Andrea and her family, but I got stuck in traffic and our tickets were timed. She had to go ahead but the CA Science Center was understanding and let me come in late. Traffic there and back sucked, but it was worth it to see a piece of history–not to mention Nico’s excited face. The space shuttle is huge!
Monday
I try to follow and read people who inspire me or push me to be better. Lisa Congdon is one of those people. I am so excited about–and impressed with–her latest project. She never ceases to inspire and motivate me.
Tuesday
I got a traffic ticket, my first one in almost a decade. The officer pulled me over once last year, but I was able to sweet-talk my way out of it. This time, not so much. It’s okay, because he could have written me up for 3 violations (none of them serious!); he only gave me one. I’ll take the ticket without complaint. I really did deserve it, and I was so grateful he went easy on me!
Wednesday
I started off the day overwhelmed but managed to get a bunch of stuff done. Then, the Mister called me late in the afternoon and said he wouldn’t be home for dinner. I’m sorry he had to work late, but I’m not at all sorry I didn’t have to worry about dinner. I tossed a box of Mac & Cheese down the boys’ throats and settled in for the night with a fluffy book. It was quite glorious.
Thursday
I might stop blogging if I think about the amount of time and money I have spent trying to resolve the site’s hacking and connectivity issues. My site was down most of yesterday morning and has been online/offline for weeks. The latest solution offered to me will cost $75/month. I don’t even make $50 per month now that I am no longer with Federated Media, so my response was a guffaw followed by “no, thank you.” The opportunity with Old Navy happened at the last minute and could not have come at a better time. To think: one day I won’t be known for fixing broken pickles! Yes, I’m still selling drugs.
I watched the most amazing sunset from my front porch. Mikey said it looked like an explosion, and I had to agree.
The Weekend
Friday should be quiet. I hope the rest of the weekend is, too. The only thing I’m even contemplating is going on a long hike with the family if it doesn’t rain.
Have a happy, happy weekend, everyone!

*Please* don’t stop blogging! (I am so sorry about all the troubles – and don’t want you going in the poor house or insane asylum over this – but!) I had meant to post on yesterday’s ultra-inspiring post. You have inspired me to have a “William Morris” project of my own (ongoing) in our home, but to remind me about how it ties into our physical well-being… Well. Genius. (Now I’m heading out for a walk of my own.) Thank you, sincerely.

You’re welcome, Carrie. Thank you. :)

Jules,
I have never left a comment before and am not exactly sure how I found your blog, but have been stalking for a while! I just have to tell you how much I LOVE your blog. Your posts have made me laugh, cry and everything in between. I love how you keep it real. I would be very sad if you stopped blogging, since I am not on any of the social media sites. I would understand though, but know you would be missed by someone on the other side of the country!

Dawn! Thank you for coming out of the woodwork. It’s nice to meet you. :) Thank you for making your first comment such a nice one.

Love the Happy Happy posts – thank you as always for sharing these moments with us. Nico’s happy face brightens my day!
Lisa Congdon is so inspirational – I took an on-line painting course from her and Mati McDonough, another favorite of mine. I slacked off and didn’t get as much out of it as I should have, but your post reminded me and I am going to dig things out this weekend and give it a try.
Please don’t stop blogging! I have no concept of how much work it is just to maintain a working blog (let alone to write and photograph the content), but I do appreciate it and when you write your first book I promise to buy extra copies! :)

Wow, you took a class from Lisa? Very cool. I’ve always wanted to be able to paint/draw. Too funny about the first book. ;)

2013 is off to a great start. Those boys are just the sweetest thing – the Space Center must have been amazing. Lisa Congdon is also pretty darn amazing too!
I truly believe that these little walks, make monumental changes – not physical, but emotional. The walks are calming, they don’t overwhelm, and they’re manageable. That being said, it is -5C this morning (evil). Hope your hike this weekend is wonderful.
Jules says
I agree. Everyone always told me that a simple walk could do wonders and I never believed them.

Holy mackerel – that is so cool! Your boys must have been loving seeing the space shuttle up close like that. I mean, I would be pretty geeked! ;)
