- Man Hands: Dwarfing gloss pots since 1972
- I’m taking Susannah Conway’s Unravelling course, which why those of you following me on flickr will soon suffer the deluge of self portraits and other questionable attempts at photography.
- Class started a couple of weeks ago.
- At first I hated it.
- I thought it was a class for white women with issues.
- You know, people looking to find themselves and speak their truth.
- If you are looking to make me leave a room, tell me you want to “speak your truth” or that something “resonates within your soul” or that the “Universe” told you in a dream that you are a victim of the Feminine Mystique.
- Gag.
- Speak English.
- Preferably to a therapist.
- Turns out the white woman with issues was me.
- And the issue was living in a petrie dish.
- Colds.
- Stomach flus.
- And all manner of pestilence.
- Okay, I was also approaching it like this was a class I needed to CALI.
- Old habits die hard.
- But now that our health is looking up (and I no longer expect to become the next Jen Altman) I’m starting to have fun.
- Thinking of interesting ways to do the next assignment.
- Or, rather, the assignments I’ve missed to date.
- Ugh.
- Deep breath.
- Don’t freak out about being behind.
- It will happen eventually.
- And if “it” brings along a modicum of patience in the interim, all the better.

the word i hate most in the world? RESONATE – i read it at LEAST six times a day in the blogosphere and it makes me crazy
also – ‘speak my truth’ will never fall from these cynical English lips ;)
:-D

HILARIOUS. I enjoy your bulleted format.

So you look about 12 in that picture. It’s almost like now self telling then self what’s to come. I like it.

Hey Jules, I took this class last summer and loved it. Am still working through some of the assignments that I fell behind on during class. Hope it goes well for you as you dive in : )

Seems like the women “speaking their truth,” usually haven’t found their voice. Can not wait for the pics Jules!

Michelle–good one! I haven’t found my voice, either, of course. It’s just that sometimes (a lot of the times) the airy-fairy soul sister talk makes me wince.

jules, keep me posted on what you decide on this class. i want to do some photo assignment- types of thing at some point so i can improve my skills, but i will admit that that website’s course descriptions are pretty gag-inducing to me. but i am also someone who can’t stand dating contest shows like “the bachelor,” since they drone on and on about how they are “opening their hearts” to each other and how they have “connections.” i mean who in the hell in the real world talks like that?!

Proud of you:)
