Graph paper is so very satisfying. I just love all those little squares, and I swear it makes my handwriting prettier and neater. Fellow graph paper fan, Meredith of Penelope Loves Lists, interviewed me for a regular series she writes on her organizational blog about bloggers and how they stay organized. True to form, I already want to amend at least one answer.
For example, I think I love A Prayer for Owen Meany more than The World According to Garp. Also, my current favorite book (the reading of which I have yet to tackle with devotion) was inspired by this post Bethany of Emmy Lu design studio wrote in February.
Here is the link to the interview. If I sound too much like a dork don’t tell me.

I love graph paper too! I’m an architectural/designer nerd, so I always chalked it up to that! What I love is that everything you write fits into perfect little boxes, just like life. HA! I wish, but I like to think that when I’m writing on graph paper! :o)

I love that your notebook must be lined, lie flat when open (sometimes AND when closed, for me!), and that you are particular about your pens. I think we share some of the same funny quirks.

There’s just something so satisfying about crossing something off a list!

I read your interview on Penelope Loves List… and it made me laugh because both 100 Years of Solitude and The World According to Garp are on our bedside table right now. My husband just finished Garp (and it is now his new favorite book) and I’m next to begin it. Unfortunately, though, 100 Years of Solitude has been sitting there for quite a while. I got completely lost in it. The names were all so similar that I lost track of the characters (even with the genealogy in the front… I am a moron). I think I need to finally give up on it, or start over again! I’m onto Edgar Sawtelle, so I suppose it will have to wait.

Too funny! I’m Latin, so all the names were clear in my head. ;)
I started Edgar Sawtelle when it first came out…and never finished more than half of it. I have no idea why. There are a few books that I just need to pick up and read instead of going out and buying new books! (Uh, which is exactly what I did today.)

oh I just love Owen Meany :) Good choice

Not one hint of dorkiness – loved it! Keep us posted on the software … was it software? Great. I say I read the piece and then I’m all, “What did you say again?” It’s just that I’m a paper person – notebooks and sticky notes. I use programs for the agency I freelance for … but not for my personal stuff. Sigh.
And now that you mention it, I need to read the Bible all the way through again …
Oh, and for the record, a girl can never have too many books …

My little blog crush on you just multiplied–Owen Meany? One of my all time favorites! I’ve found that the best people in life have a love of that little guy. Kuddos to you on the Bible–are you going through it in order?
Hesper says
I looove Owen Meany and nobody ever knows what I’m talking about when I mention that book! Love this blog! Love!!

I need graph paper and my notebooks–I do not know what I would do without them! I need to check things off and scribble down the nonsense that comes into my mind otherwise I would leave the house in my pjs and slippers.

Just was visiting your friend Meredith’s blog and decided to stop by here for the first time! That is so funny about the graph paper – for some reason I need lines to write. Not that I can’t write straight, but I think it’s having something orderly looking before its messed up with my countless TO DO’s! lol
