This is one of my favorite breakfasts. Two months ago, this breakfast would have been a snack around 2pm, since I always skipped breakfast and rarely ate lunch. And, to be honest, there would have been less apple and a whole grip more brie cheese. Okay, maybe the apples were crackers.
I don’t know about the new meal plan. It requires me to drink 2 cups of milk a day, which I find repulsive. I’m back to the original plan until I can meet with a registered dietitian (anyone know of one in southern California?) who can come up with a meal plan that doesn’t offend my tender sensibilities.
Some other things I have for breakfast: eggs, bacon, fruit and yogurt– nothing exciting.
What do you like to eat for breakfast? I’m looking for inspiration, always.

Breakfast, hmm….not my strong point. Fruit, eggs, cereal w/skim milk, yogurt, Hungry girl’s breakfast cookies, vita muffins, oatmeal, applesauce, Slim Fast shake. Nothing too creative there, I’ve just never been a huge breakfast fan or eater.

I love the 100 calorie english muffins!

Cereal. I could eat 10 bowls though. So when I”m not pregnant/breastfeeding I have to go with slimfast or something like eggs and toast–something that is finite and has protein and I can’t just keep refilling. (The thing with cereal is that there’s always milk left over so I pour more cereal in and then the milk is not quite covering it so I add more milk and then again you have milk left over and it never ends!!!!)
What does brie taste like???

I LOVE Brie. That breakfast looks delicious. I often have a slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter and a piece of fruit. And a whole milk latte. Not terribly exciting either, I know…

Two words…..green smoothie! It’s the perfect breakfast food. Well except the time I spilled it down the front of me. Then it wasn’t so perfect but, 99% of the time it’s perfection!

I have 2 favorite breakfasts: scrambled eggs with peppers, onions, cilantro, maybe a little hot sauce and a serving of oatmeal with yogurt instead of milk (I’m lactose intolerant, but the live cultures in yogurt make it easier to digest) and sometimes I put a handful of berries on top. Yum.

I Heart Fashion (or anyone else)–how can we describe Brie cheese for Cara?
Cara–I am stumped! I guess it is a mild cheese, although some brands aren’t as mild. A little nutty/tangy, like a cheddar–but totally not like cheddar. See what I mean? Impossible to describe. Some people eat the rind (that white stuff you see) but I don’t. What I love about it is the texture. It is very soft, often times gooey. That was right out of the fridge, so it was firm. But, if you buy a double creme brie if you slice it it will spread like molten lava. It’s just creamy, ooey, and gooey.

I agree with ‘I heart fashion’, the breakfast looks yummy. Toi is still on the green smoothie kick, lol! That’s funny. The photo looks awesome and I agree I don’t think I could stomach drinking glasses (pluaral?!) of milk.

Pancakes and bacon every morning, but I might switch it up to brie and apples. That picture looks D-LISH-US!
I think I might have sent you the recipe, but here it is again. I promise you they are really good. Don’t be scared to try them. Just this week I started adding juice from 1/2 a lemon to the mix and it’s soooo yumm-e!
1 Tbs psyllium husk
3 Tbs ground flax seed
1 tsp baking soda
1.5 tsp stevia
pinch of salt
2 eggs or 3 egg whites
juice of 1/2 lemon
Mix all ingredients and let sit for 2 minutes. Pour 1/2 batter onto hot griddle, cook until lightly brown on each side, repeat with other 1/2 of batter. Serve with low calorie syrup or fresh fruit and enjoy!
I have to tell you that you have inspired me to buckle down and lose the last 20 lbs from my pregnancy. Thanks for the inspiration!

so funny you asked this question because my last (boring) post was about eating better and my little go-to meal that keeps me from eating a whole box of cheezits while i am sitting on my butt at my desk. i have to admit that i’m not very saavy when it comes to nutrition, but this looks to me like a winner (see ‘nutrition label’): small fuji apple, small carton of plain non-fat yogurt, 1/2 cup grape nuts cereal. i’m actually eating it right now. it has everything i like: sweet, sour and texture. i need texture to be satisfied and this has crunchy and creamy, my two favs. i don’t have a pretty picture, but it does look appetizing even though it doesn’t sound so. oh, and it’s good for lunch, too.

Hey there, newer-ish reader :)
I used to go for steel cut oats mixed with any variety of fruits, nuts, etc. Now, it’s a big ol quart of freshly juiced veg and then a couple hours later I will have a big ol quart of green smoothie. Chock full of vitamins, essential aminos, minerals and goodness.

I don’t know if it’s my southern roots or what but I’m crazy boring when it comes to breakfast. My one teensy tiny suggestion? Capers in your scrambled eggs. Yum.

a few years ago i discovered w.w. couscous for breakfast. i make cook it with soymilk, add cinnamon, nuts and fruit and enjoy it both hot and cold. sometimes i use quinoa instead of couscous. i love steel cut oats but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up.

I love the brie! Okay, what I have for breakfast would not be good for your diet – it’s a breakfast of butter croissants and cafe au lait. However, when I had gestational diabetes and had to keep my carb count low… I ate 1/2 toasted English muffin with 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and 1 glass of milk. It kept me way under weight and my body eventually got used to it (1 month later).

I eat low fat vanilla yogurt with granola that includes raisins and cranberries. I’m on a diet as well and my trainer recommended this. It really works because although I don’t feel full I tend to get through the morning without snacking. What is odd is that I have always hated yogurt but I searched and found one I loved.

Describing brie is like describing butter, or fresh air, or really good water (is there such a thing?)… I think nutty, ooeygooey, rich, wanton, delicious, orgasmic, melt in your mouth wonderfulness describes it.
I would eat it three times a day. Sigh. I’m on a diet too.
