I’m back, and with good news. The procedure I had on Thursday was a surgery and biopsy, the culmination of almost four months of testing, failed medications, and waiting. I received my preliminary reports on Monday, and everything that is but shouldn’t be is benign. I trust those results won’t change in the final report. Whew and hurray!

It’s been a long four months. I’ve been tired, moody, and preoccupied. I haven’t been focused, especially the last couple of weeks, and this whole mess is the real reason behind my Happy, Happy posts. There was a Thursday a while back where everything seemed bleak, so I went through the week day-by-day and looked for good news. I found it, as it often goes when you make the effort to find what you have lost.

Last night I caught Nico dancing while I made dinner. The video was spontaneous and unplanned, so the quality is poor at best. What is excellent is his spirit and personality, the same one teachers call “a ray of sunshine on a dark day.” Nicholas is just a happy kid, despite his introspective parents and older brother, and that makes me happy, happy.

Also excellent:

  1. His dance moves, including the finger pointing.
  2. The finger pointing!! At the minute mark!!! GAH!!!!
  3. If he can’t raise a glass, he’ll raise a stool.
  4. The grand finale.

Sorry to hear that the past weeks have been so unsettling for you. Waiting is the absolute worst. Good outcome though so, Yay!
Nico. Nico, has moves. What an adorable boy.
    Happy, Happy for sure.

  2. says

Superb! I see influences of mid-eighty s break dancing and flash dance references. Having said that, they only do what they see at home : )
Great news Jules! Now you can take that weight off your shoulders.

  3. Sarah says

Glad you got good news. Nico’s dancing was a great way to start my morning. He’s adorable. Between his dance moves and Mikey’s insights, you have everything a Mom could want.

  4. says

Good news + good dance moves = the perfect way to start the day!

My nephew’s new thing is “break dancing.” He lives in Sweden (rude), but has been giving performances via Skype. Perhaps he and Nico should get together. Although, now that I think about it, we may be in trouble. You know what Napolean Dynamite says, “Girls like boys who have good skills . . . “

    • says

      Hahahaha! GOSH!

Napoleon Dynamite – Stay home and eat all the freakin’ chips, Kip.
Kip – Napoleon, don’t be jealous that I’ve been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know I’m training to be a cage fighter.
Napoleon Dynamite – Since when, Kip? You have the worst reflexes of all time.

I know! I should not laugh. I went all the way to Denmark–DENMARK–and when a friend of a friend found out I was from Idaho he said, “Oh, Napoleon Dynamite!” As if potatoes weren’t enough.

Also, I was set up on a blind date with a guy who was eerily similar to Kip. I kid you not. So, while I laugh, it’s mostly nervous laughter . . .

  5. says

Oh my gosh – that’s fantastic news! So glad all is well Jules! And Nico – he’s got some serious moves!! Nic and my son Flap should get together and start their own dance crew!

  6. Sharon says

So glad it all turned out good.
It is so wonderful to dance with abandon. Why do we have to lose that when we grow up?

    • says

Thanks. I didn’t say anything because, I don’t know. Didn’t want to seem like I was an attention seeker or complainer, I guess. Plenty of people with bigger struggles. I’m blessed.

  7. heather says

Oh…Em…Gee! Hilarious. He’s got the moves alright. I love the break dancing at the beginning. What a scream. Makes me want to get up and dance with him.

  8. Susan G says

A ray of sunshine indeed! He’s a whole ball of sunshine – and that face!!

So very very glad you got good news. Now back to your regularly scheduled life…at least that’s how I used to feel when things were hanging out there – like so many things were on hold. Your happy posts have been like a way of sunshine for me, and I so appreciate them, but I am sorry they grew out of a dark time for you. Welcome back!

  9. says

Happy happy indeed, on all counts. So glad your news was good, and now seriously missing the little boy I once had. At 14, I think it’s impossible to be too cool for school–but it’s definitely possible to be too cool for dancing! Wishing you well and good health–

  10. says

I’m so glad things turned out ok! Hope you feel more peaceful now.

I was watching the video with my 6 yr old, who said “hey! that’ boy knows all my dance moves! Even the snake one!” (I think that was the get down on the floor between the dog beds move.)

  11. says

HURRAY for good news! What a great discovery.

And oh.my.gawd. Those dance moves are fantastic! The down on the floor with the dog beds KILLED me! I’ll have a huge grin on my face all day now, I think.

  12. Bethany says

    Good news indeed! So glad.
I’ve re-started my gratitude journal just recently, and there certainly are many things around to be grateful for and happy about once I pause and pay attention!

    • says

I need to do a journal, too. I’m pretty good about remembering, mainly because when something good happens I’ll take a picture of it with my phone. But I know for a fact there are little moments I’ve forgotten. I’m not good about typing things into my phone. Paper is better for me.

  13. says

Happy, happy for your good news! I know you’re relieved and thankful.

To Nico: You are an amazing dancer!! Keep it up. We (blog) friends of your mom are hopelessly charmed by you (and your big brother, too). Your mom is a lucky lady.

  14. Panya says

    Health news = (((((HUGS)))))

Nico = So freaking adorable, I want to pinch his cheeks! I’m bookmarking this post to show my niece & nephews, since they seem to think that dancing is weird [their parents are into rap, wherein dancing consists of raising one hand in the air & nodding one’s head].

    • says

I’ve watched this video no less than 30 times. It makes me laugh every time, though I must admit it’s much better viewed from my phone. You can actually make out his expressions, which are priceless. Lots of lip pursing.

  15. says

Jules, really glad to hear that it’s good new, and sorry for that stressful time of waiting & testing. No bueno.

Nico’s smile is really somethin’! Love that age.

  16. Jeanne says

He has great moves! Love the slippery feet! Put a big smile on my face tonight. Glad to hear your health news was good. Rejoice and enjoy the kiddos. Life is good.
