Pine Peak

PANCAKES AND FRENCH FRIES

“The One About the Drive Back Home from Lake Tahoe”

Act Three

FADE IN:

EXT. 395 SOUTH – DAYTIME

A quiet car ride.  Nicholas and Mikey sit in the back seat of their grandmother’s car, their mother at the wheel.  Mikey is enthralled with his new Leapster 2 and mutters something about 133 points and a successful dino dig.  Nicholas looks out the window and plays with his hair, occasionally giving himself appreciative glances.

NICHOLAS

How’s my hair, Mikey?

MIKEY
(gives Nicholas the most cursory glance before going back to his Leapster 2)

Not good.

FADE TO BLACK.

HA! That, my friend, was awesome… :)

  2. No way! I am going to Lake Tahoe next month! Anything I should look for, besides hair dos? :-P

LOL! they are such little men!

  4. Toi says:

You make me want to have little boys!

  5. Jules says:

Danielle–I just got back. There are some pictures in the archives from last week, but where do you plan on going? North or South?

  6. We are thinking South has more going on. We haven’t looked at any tour books as yet. The only real big tour attraction I was told to do is see Emerald Bay.

  7. Jules says:

The south side definitely has more going on, but I know nothing about it since we always stay on the north. I think there is lots of gambling and nightlife activities. Definitely go to Emerald Bay, and Truckee, too. Virginia City is an old mining town that can be fun (my husband and I had old western pictures taken when we were dating!). Any of the guidebooks will have great suggestions. I’ve been going there for 20 years and I still like to pick them up to see what I might be missing. Bring something for headaches if you get altitude sickness. My mom always gets a headache due to the change in altitude (it’s about 5k feet) the first night/day. After that, she’s great.

  8. Thanks for the suggestion about the headaches! We are actually headed to San Fran first, then taking a train over to Tahoe. I think our train gets off in Truckee. I looked back at your posts and am so excited to see those views!

  10. Joy says:

    I second what Toi said…*blushing*

Hi! I’m Jules.

I used to be an attorney, but it made me grumpy. Now I write about life, sweet and savory, as a wife and mother to two small boys. My knowledge of dinosaurs knows no bounds.

You can read more, including the meaning behind the name Pancakes and French Fries here. And, yes, I really am phenomenally indecisive.
