Monday
I told myself that this year I would take a day to myself, and only myself. On Monday I went on a walk, made cookies for the boys, and read a book.
Tuesday
Kindergartners are the best.
“Okay, who wants to go with Emily to the bathroom as a partner?”
“I will, Mrs. Kendall. I’m her total BFF.”
Wednesday
5th graders aren’t bad, either.
“How about this one? Newbery winner, set in France…”
“Blech. I don’t think so. It’s just so…childish.”
“…”
“…”
“You know you’re a child, right?”
“Yeah, but I’m a matured one.”
Thursday
On my way home from work, I remembered I had a bag of red potatoes that wasfast approaching expiration. I roasted them for dinner and served themwith sauted kale mix and grilled salmon burgers. I avoided food waste and made a dinner everyone actually enjoyed! I swear to God, it’s the little things. The joy remembering to roast those damn potatoes broughtme is ludicrous.
Friday
This post will be my second of the week, which, hey! That is more than I’ve written in months. I gave myself a goal of 2 posts per week for the new year. So far, so good!

Sounds like a very good start to 2016! I hate to generalize and be negative, but 2015 was just not a good year. Two posts per week sounds like a good goal to me. Happy belated New Year Jules!

2015 was a very, very lukewarm year for me. That’s my diplomatic way of saying it sucked!

Good for you, and I’m glad you’re “back”! I totally get the potato moment. I made ravioli out of the freezer (black hole) and felt triumphant last night! Keep up the good work with walking and writing. Do you follow Lenny letter? It’s worth it I think. Good writing.
Jules says
I just checked out Lenny Letter and it looks amazing!! Thanks for the recommendation.

Congrats on the dinner save! I feel very accomplished because I meal planned and shopped on Monday, and I’ve actually cooked every night except last night when I realized the leftovers were stacking up so we had a leftover smorgasbord. I tend to throw out a lot of leftovers, so this was a food waste save for me. Back to the plan today, now with a meal to float into the weekend. :)
I’m hoping to spend more time reading books and less time aimlessly on the internet. I finished a book this week and have a bunch in the hopper. Win!
Happy to hear you will be posting twice a week. That seems manageable from your end and delightful from mine. Have a good weekend!
Jules says
I hope you have a great weekend, as well! I need to read more, too. I’m spending too much time being fake-busy.

Seeing you back in my inbox makes me happy, happy. I’ve missed your voice.
Jules says
Thanks. I’ve missed being here. :)
Stacey says
Yeah to you being back, you’ve been missed. It always feels like a win when I remember to use the veggies up before they’ve moved on to the next plane. I am lucky my family loves soup and they love leftovers for lunch. I know someone whose husband won’t eat leftovers, and I spend time feeling sorry for her!

I’m glad you’re back. I have to ask…Where did you find the Star Wars cookie cutters? I don’t bake cookies often, because then they just HAVE to be eaten, but my kids would love cookies in the shape of the Millenium Falcon and a tie fighter.
Jules says
Those were a gift from years and years ago, and they’re not cookie cutters–they’re for sandwiches! (Stupid.) They were from Williams Sonoma. I just checked the site, and they have some really great ones!

One day a week??? Every Monday?
You are my hero. (Seriously. So wonderful to read that because- hey- maybe I could try that too!)

It became a mental health issue for me. If I do everything for everyone, then I become a total bitch because “no one appreciates me.” People don’t want to be around a person like that–and I don’t want to be that person!
