I was in the office making photocopies when I received this picture–sans hearts, obviously. I thought it was cute, and replied with a thank you, even though I couldn’t figure out why it was a picture of Nico and his friends standing outside not 10 minutes earlier. I had a brief moment of mom panic, thinking I had missed something important. Then I rationalized it by saying to myself that I couldn’t be missing anything important if I didn’t suddenly remember what I was missing once I saw the picture. If you understood that last sentence, you are probably good at Algebra.
I asked Nico about the picture on the way home from school.
“Oh,” he said. “Robbie’s mom was there at recess and she was taking a picture of him. So when I saw that, I said to myself, ‘Well, I might as well show off some dinosaur!’ Then I jumped into the picture and everyone else followed me.”
Well, I might as well show off some dinosaur!
Never mind that he happened to have with him a 450 page book on dinosaurs. I want to focus on the fact Nico saw an opportunity to show off some dinosaur and went for it.
I had the shot. There was no danger, so I took it.
Not until 3:23 pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 did I realize that I have been waiting my whole life to hear the phrase well, I might as well show off some dinosaur!

Other kids just want to be a part of the picture, while he sees it as a dinosaur PR opportunity. Dinosaur photobomb!

Honestly cannot even begin to tell you how awesome your Nico stories are. Best thing I've seen in weeks! I literally laughed out loud. Thank you for sharing. *plus? I may steal his line because something about it just speaks to me. No one will know what I'm talking about, and that's even better! LOL

I will work it into conversation at some point, mark my words! :)

Awesome. Totally awesome. (Love the Top Gun reference, too, despite finding Tom Cruise creepy these days.)
Jules says
I know what you mean about Tom Cruise. Gone are the days where he was just a really cute short guy. :/

Just when I think I couldn't love you more, you throw a Top Gun quote in there. You are swoony.
