I can’t wait until the Bishop comes and goes! I’ve been working nonstop in the library. I’m on my feet for hours at a time, lifting and moving and shuffling. The good news is that I am surpassing my 10,000 steps per day requirement. On some days, I come close to doubling it. Those are the days I don’t walk when I get home. I figure if my hamstrings hurt at the end of the day, I’ve done enough walking and lifting (squats!) to count as exercise.
On the days I know I’m going to be pulling in 4+ hours in the library organizing, I go to school wearing my walking clothes and my sneakers. On other days, where I’m aide/librarian for most of the day, I try to wear comfortable clothes that still allow me to bend and reach. Shoes have been a challenge, and I mentioned at the beginning of the school year that I was looking for shoes that wouldn’t kill my feet after so many hours of standing or walking.
I found shoes! They’re by a company called Bernie Mev, and they are really not cute at all when they aren’t on your feet. Like, really not cute.
These are the exact shoes I’m wearing in the above picture. Lulia style Bernie Mev in Navy. |
Right? So not cute. I found them at a Happy Feet store so, you know, it was to be expected.
The only reason I tried the shoes on in the store is because they were on clearance and my size was on the end cap. I’m so glad I did! It was like slipping into a puffy cloud made of good cheer. The color they had on the end cap was, naturally, quite horrific, so I went home and found the navy blue ones on Amazon. (I priced them all over the internet, and Amazon is the cheapest, especially if you have Prime.)
These shoes look much, much better on your feet than they do in the box. Meaning, you don’t actually look like Minnie Mouse about to go clubbing. I get compliments on them every time I wear them, but they are so comfortable, I would wear them anyway. (Probably. Maybe not, because I’m vain.) My heels blister in almost every closed back shoe, but I have never had a blister in these shoes.
They aren’t perfect. I had to buy them online, for one. My feet are still swollen at the end of the day if I’ve been on my feet for hours at a time, so they don’t work miracles. If you have a problem with stinky feet, these probably aren’t the shoes for you. I don’t have that problem, but today I came close. To be fair, I was on my feet for hours and hours doing work that most people would do in socks and sneakers.
So! Shoes. These are the ones I wear to school on most days. I normally wouldn’t write a post about the shoes I wear, but I received a few comments on Facebook and Instagram about them, and since they’re from a pretty random brand, I thought I’d spread the news.
EDITED TO ADD: I’m a size 8.0-8.5 and I bought a size 39.

I'm making note because After a couple of bad ankle injuries I've had to make some new choices that don't include 4 inch heels.

They're not the cutest shoes in the world, but they are great if you are on your feet all day or walk a lot for your job.
