Mom of the Year moment: I forgot to make the boys’ lunch on Thursday.
Or, better stated: I’m Only Human, They’ll Survive moment.
Nico’s class eats lunch early, and I forgot that I had to talk to the lunch lady about his lunch until 15 minutes beforehand. She already knows he doesn’t eat meat, but what I didn’t know is that chicken nuggets were on the menu today. We went over what she had on hand (lots of various forms of nuggets, chicken sandwiches, etc.) and in the end she said she would make it work for him–in 15 minutes.
This is what she made for him. Isn’t this amazing? It’s a quesadilla with garlic, roasted potatoes (all the kids had them), salad, pretzels, and 1/4 of an orange. Best $5 ever.
Mikey had the same thing, and when I asked him about it he said he would happily eat that every day for the rest of his life. Mikey loves salads, so she really piled his serving up to the sky. He was ecstatic.

You know, the world isn't so bad. Things like this give me a sweet reminder of that. There's still good!

I know, I thought the same thing. She's so, so nice.

I don't even care for quesadillas (neither does Nico) but this looked amazing. Nico INHALED it. He said it was delicious.

You and me, both! My lunches look nothing like that. :/

Man, I want that lunch! What an awesome lady…

It was so nice of her to do, especially since I gave her zero notice.

That lunch looks like something I would have! What a great lunch lady!

I'm seriously going to start making that lunch for myself. Why have I never had 1/4 of an orange? I always try to eat the whole thing, which is too much. Duh.

In light of the popular #ThanksMichelleObama trend of showing how much school lunches suck, this is so refreshing to see! Not all hope is lost.

I know! I wonder about that hashtag, especially when the kids are in high school. I know our lunch lady takes a la carte orders for 5th grade and up, and nearly all the kids order garbage. Not a vegetable in sight. Popular lunch: pizza rolls and cookies.

Get that lady a Starbucks card! =)
