Baseball season is almost over. It’s almost over. Baseball season is almost over.
:: On Sunday Nicholas amused my dad with his obsession with the song Dynamite by Taio Cruz. (See above.) Okay, maybe my dad was more than just amused when Nicholas did a booty shake and bump against the grill of his car.
:: The boys and the Mister took a bike ride on Monday. I don’t have a bike, so I stayed behind and read a book in a quiet house.
:: Tuesday was a productive day. I knocked out a few chores, decided on the books for book club, and watched a few episodes of Downton Abbey with the Mister. Oh yeah, we’re hooked. I want to put a cigarette out on Thomas’s forehead and knock the curls off Mrs. O’Brian’s head half the time, but in an addicted way.
:: I took Nicholas to a play date at John’s Incredible Pizza on Wednesday. I was super looking forward to it. (Proof.) But Nicholas ended up having the time of his life, so it was worth my fear of communicable diseases. He jumped off a roller coaster and yelled, “I am SO fired up right now! That was AWESOME!” I resisted the urge to bathe him in bleach once we got home. I consider that a win.
:: On Thursday I answered comments while Nicholas sang, you guessed it, Dynamite. I tried to be slick about recording him, but he got quiet once he saw my grab my phone. I had to nudge him into singing for me.
:: Friday is the last practice of baseball season. Hark! The herald angels sing.
This weekend is going to be jammed packed busy. My favorite! No. Baseball game, baseball party, graduation party, choir, and birthday party. Heaven help me. But summer is almost here, and that makes me so, so, so happy, happy.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
p.s. We will discuss The Night Circus on Monday!

It is scientifically impossible to refrain from smiling while watching that video–the singing, the smile, the ‘love you too’ . . . and we’re goners.
As for Downton Abbey, just started watching it last night. I kept hoping Thomas might meet with an unfortunate accident. And Mrs. O’Brian . . . there was one part in the first episode where I actually gasped and exclaimed, “YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME?!” Luckily, all the blood that rushed to my head in the first episode, settled back down by the second, so I should be good to continue on . . .
And a great weekend to you!

When she tripped Mr. Bates, right? Grrr.
Amy says
YES! So wrong, on so many levels . . .
Missie says
I have to agree with Amy, had a HUGE smile and a little tear in my eye after watching that!! Thanks for sharing. Nice to hear your voice too! :) Enjoy your busy weekend!
Jules says
Thanks! I have actually disliked the sound of my voice ever since I was a little kid! Getting over that, though, because it’s a bit silly.

So needed happy happy today – thank you! Love the video, and I agree that it’s nice to hear your voice And reading alone in a quiet house? Heaven! Hope the weekend is OK – sounds tiring We have activity this weekend too as my nephew is graduating from high school and family is coming into town. Maybe I should have taken off Monday…
Jules says
The weekend sounds very tiring. I’m not looking forward to running around so much, especially since the running around will carry into the week. I’m fine with it because next week school is out!

How funny! Robert has also been somewhat obsessessed about that song ever since hearing it at a wedding last summer.
Jules says
It’s Mikey’s favorite song, too. I never bought it because I thought it might have bad words/content, but then I listened to the whole thing and realized it’s not that bad. It’s almost two years old though! My boys are behind the times. ;)

#1 Syd and Nico would get along splendidly :) #2 What is it about that song and kids? They all love it! #3 we too are hooked on Downton Abbey. Started it Tuesday night and finished season 1 last night. How far are you in season 1 so I don’t say any spoilers? It definitely lived up to the hype right?
Jules says
We’re watching the season finale of season 2 tonight! WE CAN’T WAIT.
Andrea Howe says
so does that mean Thomas doesn’t end up resigning to go to war if he’s still in the show? Blargh, can’t stand him!
Jules says
I didn’t say that. You’ll get nothing from me. ;)

So, what you’re saying is, you’re kinda glad that baseball season is almost over? ;-)
Don’t know how you do it…my 7 y.o. got scouted recently to play for the competitive soccer league (vs. merely recreational). So flattering, but after learning the schedule, my husband & I were both “OH HELLS NO.”
Rachel (heart of light) says
I share Nicholas’s obsession. I’m embarrassed to think about what I look like at the gym when that song hits my Pandora. Pretty sure my pace speeds up significantly. The power of music.

Thank you. Between the reply comment on your other post (about speed walking) and the video in this post, you have completely turned my entire day around.
Also, relating to your John’s Incredible Pizza experience – I recently accompanied my 10yr old niece to Worlds Of Fun (local amusement park w/ lots of roller coasters). As we were getting ready to take off on a very jostling coaster, I noticed she had gum in her mouth. I knew I didn’t have a chance telling her to spit it out and I didn’t want her to choke so I had her spit it in my hand (bleh!) and I HELD IT through the entire ride. She promptly stuck it right back in her mouth when the ride was over. I was disgusted. I was further disgusted later when she demonstrated a “cat’s cradle” using the gum threaded through her fingers. Then popped it all back into her mouth. Disgusting. This, after having touched EVERYTHING in the amusement park. Railings, ride bars, vendor stands – everything. Ew! Ew! EW! Kids are resilient little boogers and apparently resistant to germs that I’m frightened of.
