On film
“You know what I figured out, mom? A book is always better than the movie. With a movie, it’s all there. With books, you get to use your imagination and see things the way you want to. When I was reading A New Hope the other day, I was thinking about the movie, too, and I said to myself ‘Nope! Chewbacca is going to look like this,’ and I pictured in my head him doing what I want.”
That’s awesome!
too funny on the swords. My six and four year old are really into Bey Blades, and I am frequently told “we’ll be battling in the playroom.”
Oof. Mikey and Nico are into Bey Blades, too! “3-2-1, let it rip!” I can’t tell you how many times Nico comes up to me and says, “Mama, would you like to battle me?”
Oh, man! Such wisdom, especially on films vs. books. I also love the very cool pose he’s striking in that picture, complete with sucker stick.
All his idea, of course. He was under the impression it made him look cool.
wow! How adorable is he? It’s great that you’re writing or should I say typing these memories! He’ll get a kick out of them when he’s an adult. Sweet boy!
I keep cards in my desk. One for Mikey, one for Nico. I almost have enough funny things to do a post on Nico!
I love these installments! They make me eager for when my girl can talk. :)
Wait until she reads. That’s when the can of worms really opens!
Adorable comments and very sweet boy. I am a recent reader of your blog and enjoy it.
Thank you Hailey, and welcome!
Little boys are the BEST!
I love when my kids say stuff like this and I really need to write them down more often.
My favourite is the last one re: books/movies. He has summed up my own thoughts so perfectly and succinctly (minus the Chewbacca part although we have plenty of that subject around here)!
This post made me smile :)
Yeah, he had me up until the Chewbacca part, too. :)
So many things to love about this! I am totally with him on the book/movie issue. I remember reading Gone With the Wind (several times) before seeing the movie an dbeing SOOOO disappointed in how Ashley and Scarlett looked. I must admit Rhett exceeded anything my 10yo imagination had pictured. :)
Hah! I keep imagining a 10 year old girl looking mouth agape at Rhett. :)
44 years later I’m still like that. And a P.S. about Chewbacca – we have Airedale terriers who (that?) are not clipped. They not only look like Chewbacca, they sound like him. We’re convinced someone with Airedales came up with that character for the movie.
awesome!!
So wise . . . and working on his skills. You know how girls like a guy with skills . . . you’ll have to watch that one . . .
Haha! Yes, I’ll have to watch him. The sword thing was so random! I was blow drying my hair because we were supposed to go run an errand or something. I guess I was taking to long because he poked his head into the bathroom and…you know the rest. It was the most bizarre, out of left field statement.
I love that you post these. They really brighten my day, as I’m sure they brighten yours. Oh, the bright minds of children! I wish I had that much spunk and confidence in the things I say!
This is the best thing I’ve read today. Smart and handsome little man.
Oh my goodness! He looks so grown up! Just wanted to tell you how much I love these posts.
Thanks, Lindsey. And he does look grown up. Every day, he gets a little bigger. Sigh.
What an awesome kid! He must have great parents.
Or maybe he is great despite his parents. ;)
i’m pretty sure Mikey is cooler than i am … ha! love his pose in the picture too!
Oh this is such an cute post! He sounds so adorable!!
i love this! what a sweet, sweet boy! my little girl and i had a long laugh the other day when she thought we were going to eat chicken breaths. you never know when the gems are going to come…
