Mikey turned seven on Sunday. SEVEN. Additionally, my commitment to wearing jeans + (nearly) neon hasn’t wavered since Friday. Old Navy is making it easy to see my mission through. (I’m wearing the 3/4 length slub-tee in Brink-Pink with a classic ribbed tank-top underneath. It was all very Jennifer Beals.)
Hmm, perhaps I should take a wee trip to Old Navy. Though I do have to be careful with neon … my white pasty skin tends to reflect … and while a neon green shirt is fabulous, a neon green face is not.

Oh, I agree! This one isn’t neon. It’s that bright pastel pink from the 80s. I was a little nervous wearing it, but I received several compliments on the color. Sadly, pink is my “power” color. I always get compliments when I wear it, which annoys me.
Mikey looks like he’s got blond highlights. Lucky (I’m saying this in my best Napolean Dynamite voice). I hope you guys had a great time yesterday!

Gaaaaah! He’s such a handsome little guy! My oldest turns seven (?!) on the 26th of this month and it’s killing me. I’m trying to be cool about it, but that’s not happening.

I love the birthday cake. It reminds me of a dessert that my mom makes with lady fingers, cream and dulce de leche… but onto clothes. I hear you about the pink. Apparently, it’s my “power color” also. I always get compliments when I wear hot pink, orangey pink and all sorts of other pink (except the pastel kind). I used to hate pink, but vanity has taken over and I now own quite a few pink tops.
It’s a GIANT banana cream pie. I only put the whipped cream in the center for the candles and then added some to each slice individually after they were cut. I made the huge mistake of adding the whipped cream before cutting it for the 4/40 party and never mind how impossible it was to cut the cake through all that cream…by the time I did, half they whipped cream had melted! Lesson learned!
