Emily emailed me the other day to ask if I would like to meet while she is in town visiting her parents. As luck would have it, I’ve been meaning to leave the house for years, so I said yes. I’ve also been meaning to meet Andrea, and since I was on a roll, I emailed her an invitation. She said yes, mainly because she is not entirely sure I exist. For Andrea, this is more of a fact-finding mission.
Then I started thinking that while I am being social and proving that I am not an autotron or pasty middle-aged man with a laptop, I might as well ask all of you to join us. We’re going to be at Leonesse Cellars, a winery in Temecula that I hear is great. Bonus–Emily has a connection or two there and, if all works as planned, can get us a tour and tasting. Fun!
We’re looking at April 22nd. Will you come? To be honest, I don’t even know how many southern CA people read my blog. I guess this will be the way to find out!
Monica says
I would be so there, but a continent, an ocean and France are in the way. Have a great time and take pictures!
Patricia says
I’d be there in a heartbeat! :( – Have fun!
Bridget Fletcher says
That sounds really fun. Wish I could make it. I hope you have another “meeting” when my husband is finished with residency and my kids are older. What are you doing in about 5 years?
Anna says
Trying to figure out how long it would take me to get to Temecula . ..
Jules says
It’s a ways for me, so it will be twice as long for you. If it’s too far for everyone (like we have mainly orange county/la county folks) we can talk about someplace in the middle.
Jane @ The Borrowed Abode says
Hey there! Too far away in DC to attend (boo) but have done most of the wineries in Temecula, and just wanted to let you know that Palumbo Vineyards is a small, boutique winery a bit off the beaten path, and is excellent. Frangipani, also near the end of the trail, so to speak, is really good. I think they’re the best two in the region.
Hope you all have fun!
Brandi says
Can I veto the SoCal idea?? Plus, I was just there last year. I’m feeling left out.
How about Atlanta?? Or, I’ll be in DC in a couple of weeks and all of the East Coast girls can get together…
Too far you say? Tsk.
Have a great time, and don’t forget the pictures so the rest of us can be there virtually.
LauraC says
Oh, I’d love to go! Bit far from Seattle, though. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Jules says
Dang! Is there nobody from so-Cal? :(
Licia says
As I read your invite, I got so excited about an all-girls trip. I live in San Diego, just 45 minutes away and my husband is the kind that won’t give me a hard time about leaving the boys with him for the day. But then I went to jot it down on my calendar and remembered I will be on vacation in Mexico…there’s a chance it may get cancelled so I’ll check back in when I know more. In the meantime, I hope there are more takers. Temecula is the perfect place for that kind of gathering.
Amy says
Oh sure, rub it in … sigh.
Have fabulous time … no really … I mean it … I do … pretty sure …
Andrea Howe says
Ha! Fact finding mission for sure :) I’m excited to meet up, no matter where we do it. But I do lean towards the winery seeing as how I am a total wino. Do I get to see you smashed by the way? ;) Kidding!
Asher says
are you sure you wouldn’t rather meet up in austin? that would be much easier for me. ;)
Jules says
You gals are killing me! No one lives in southern California! (Lucky ducks.)
Sally says
What a cool idea. I would go but the vast expanses of the Pacific stand in the way, but if you’re ever in New Zealand…
Kendra Selby says
I think an East Coast gathering would be way more fun. Snow, rain, tornadoes, and sunshine … all in one day!
Tanyia says
I DID live in Southern California. But then I met my husband and we moved to Texas and had a couple of cute boys together (but that’s an entirely different story, eh?). I’m afraid traveling back to Cali is a bit of a drive for us – so I won’t be able to make it. Sure wish I could though! For those of you that do make it – have oodles of fun!
Kathie says
I live in So Cal (high desert) and I read your blog! I don’t blog myself, though – am I still invited? :) Wonder if I can get the day off work…hmm.
Jules says
Of course! Anyone can come, and since my best friend lives nearby, I’ll probably drag her, too. We’ll have to talk time (afternoon v. evening) so that it’s easier for everyone to make it.
Kelly says
Not only do I live in SoCal, but I live in Temecula. But I am shy. (Wine would help!) Need to mull it over….:
Jules says
You can’t be more shy than me. Andrea has been trying to get me out for months. So has Emily, and I feel like I now have no choice since she will actually BE IN TOWN. Trust me, we can sit next to each other, drink, and hold hands. Then we’ll go home and nap. At least, that’s what I always do after being social. The stress of it all wears me out! (Only wish I was kidding.)
Andrea Howe says
I will attest to the fact that I have been trying to get Jules out for months. I started to actually take it personally and then I realized that I was being silly. Come! Or else Jules is gonna shut down the blog because she’s convinced that no one is So Cal reads it!
Notorious MLE says
Kelly! I promise you I am a shy person’s dream. I can make conversation about anything and anybody, no need even to talk. As long as you can bobble your head in my direction I will make it fun for us. Promise!
Jeen-Marie says
I vote DC.
How did you manage that?
You have more readers on the East Coast that want to hang out with you than Southern California!
Wish I could make it!!!
Jules says
Tell me about it! I guess I don’t fit the so-Cal blogger mold. :)
Christine says
I live in San Diego!! But that is spring break for my kids. We are planning to get away for vacation. That does sound fun though. I’ve always wanted to check out a winery (or two) in Temecula. And meeting you would be neat too:) Hope you guys have fun!
Jules says
It’s Mikey’s spring break, too, but we aren’t going anywhere since it’s Easter weekend and my mom would kill us. :)
Miss B. says
I want to come! You know I hate to leave my zipcode + freeway driving? Eek! But making sure you are not a pasty old man would be delightful! How far is Temecula from my zipcode? I say we go to New Zealand!
Andrea Howe says
Miss B, I think you and I are almost going to be traveling as far. I would LOVE to meet you too! Jules, will you please tell Miss B to come?!?
Jules says
I’m trying, but she hates driving…especially freeway driving! I’m hoping someone from her area can carpool with her.
Amy says
I am in North Lake Tahoe and I wish I could go! After all of this snow we have been getting I need some sun and wine!
Lydia Fairclough says
Hi Jules,
I have been following your blog for awhile, but don’t remember how I found you and I don’t blog. I am also a bit shy, but once I am around my girlfriends I do have fun and start to get out of my shell. Have fun in Temecula. BTW, I live in Southern California, but my kids are in Spring Break. Maybe I can join next time.
Rachel (heart of light) says
Oh, I’m in SoCal! But sneaking away during Easter weekend could be extremely difficult. Boo. I’ll be thinking of you ladies!
