My unstyled life isnt messy or clean or ugly or stunning. Instead, my goal is to create a home that reflects back the spirit and personality of our family. Its a work in progress. Sometimes the beauty in my life is by accident, other times its intentional. Its there, either way, because when I remember to fill my home with what I loveperson, place, or thingodds are it will be beautiful. Maybe not always appreciated, but always beautiful. If you feel the same, you are welcome to share a link to your own unstyled life in the comments.
I left my plants on the counter to drain and dry after a long overdue bath in the sink. When I came back to fetch them a few hours later, they looked like a refreshed and rejuvenated gaggle of women back from a day at the spa.

Your plants look beautiful and healthy! I want to get plants for my house but I just never seem to get around to it. I was wondering how your no sugar no grain challenge is going. I should have done the same thing because I am going no sugar and yet that is making me want to eat as many carbs and grains as I can! I guess it doesn’t help when you stop overdoing one thing, only to overdo another. Have you begun to lose your cravings yet?

It’s going well. I should do a quick update post, since I’ve had a few people ask me. Let me see if I can take a quick picture of my breakfast. ;)

That made me giggle. I love that comparison.

That is a wonderful comparison. It’s one of my favorite things about plants – if they’re a little worn out you can give them some water and they perk right up! Not untrue for people, either, as it happens.

Hi Jules –
I “found” you a few days ago in Anna’s comment section and have been catching up on your posts since. Love your blog, both the layout and written content.
I have a few orchids and a couple of cactus, neither needing a lot of care (or spa time).
Jules says
Hi Monica! :) A couple of those plants up there are actually orchids that have been trimmed down. What can I say? I pamper my plants.
I killed my cacti and my carnivorous plants. The carnivorous ones died due to lack of humidity, I think, but I can’t figure out what I did to the cactus. Do you have any tips or feeding schedule?
Monica says
Oh, I killed two carnivorous plants myself. Too much moisture, I thought . The cactus (Christmas Cactus) I have had more luck with. First tip do not put in 6 year old’s room. Sam secretly watered or should I say flooded one and it almost didn’t make it. Other than that, I have them sitting on south-east facing window sills. Water, sparingly, once every week and a half. That is about it.
