She spent the day cursing the heat until she remembered that one Sunday 35 years ago and decided things could be worse. After all, today’s outfit allowed her full mobility and unobstructed vision.
Is this your homage to Edward Gorey? Perfect.
And those old rounded corners make me want to dust off my mom’s old photos and have a good smile.
I really have a thounsand words for this one but I’ll leave it at those two thoughts : )
You give me credit for being smarter than I am. What made you think Edward Gorey? Is it because my mom looks like someone just burned down her village? This picture reminded me of a Woody Allen movie, or the final scene of The Graduate, where Dustin Hoffman and Catherine Ross just look stunned at the back of the bus.
You have to share your 1000 words! Now you have me curious.
No no, the writing made me thing of Gorey, not the picture. Sorry I wasn’t clear. His “retrospective little rifts that start so optimistic but end on a low note” thing.
The Graduite does come to mind when I look back at the image, ha ha.
A few quick refrences- not from memory, I collect him.
“After several years they secretly rented a remote and undesiable villa”
The Lothsome Couple
“On the shore a bat, or possibly an umbrella, disengaged itself from the shrubbery, causing those nearby to recollect the miseries of childhood.”
The Object Lesson
is that Rockefeller Center? everyone looks so happy to be there! LOL when we first took our 3 yo son, it was freezing but we got a spot right across the street. he took one look at the big tree and said – i want to go home…
Why don’t they do they make albums with the glue lines any more – those were great…until the glue dried and the photos decided not to stick.
I could sit and leaf through old pictures all.day.long. I am planning on scanning all (well, maybe my favorite 100) of our old family pics and putting them onto jump drives for holiday presents.
That’s a great idea because, in truth, I wanted to take this picture out for the picture. I had this super cute idea that I was hoping would work out. Unfortunately, those pics are glued and won’t budge. I’m going to have to scan them because eventually the will get destroyed sitting in these albums.

That is a fantastic picture. I have pictures where I look just like that. Oh the joys of being a baby in the 70’s!
