I’m going to step away for the rest of the week and spend some time with my two boys.
Nico had his final pine nut challenge yesterday, and while he did experience some redness around the mouth and torso, the doctor decided it was most likely nonspecific irritation and not an allergic response. It was a very long, stressful three hours, one that I didn’t realize was weighing on my mind so heavily until hours before the appointment. Suddenly, my three day headache that never seemed to disappear made sense. Mama stress is more powerful than a locomotive.
We got home tired by happy. Nico complained of a stomachache, but I didn’t think much of it. He ended up vomiting hours later, and of course that sent me into a panic. I knew the challenge and his upset stomach were far enough removed to be unrelated, but I had a bit of a freak out and called the pediatrician. He very calmly talked me down from the ledge and told me I just had to check on Nico every couple of hours to make sure his tongue and lips weren’t swelling. I suggested every ten minutes. He reiterated every two hours.
When I got off the phone, The Mister asked what the pediatrician said. I told him I had instructions to check on Nico every ten minutes. A locomotive, I tell you.
Speaking of locomotives, maybe that’s what we’ll do. Play some trains, read some books on dinosaurs, and enjoy these last few days of summer.

Jules,
Smart you for taking time with your precious boys! Glad Nico’s allergy test worked out alright. And it is completely understandable that you’d stress out over the whole thing and experience overprotection syndrome afterwards. When our children hurt, we hurt. Enjoy some fun time and remember to breathe!

Enjoy your time Jules – they’re only little for so long. :-)

Why is it boys always get those beautifully long lashes? Sigh. But I digress …
Perfect plan to take the rest of the week off! Enjoy it to the fullest!

Jules,
We can totally understand why you’d be so worried, it’s only natural being the wonderful mama that you are.
I hope Nico feels better soon and please enjoy the last few days of summer with your boys. Nothing is more precious than these moments uh?!
** I also add to the choir: their eyelashes are stunning!
