I might be bringing her back. I’m not sure.
The Mister received a partial offer. Still waiting to hear about the commission schedule, but the base is half of what he was making. We are choosing to be optimistic. Firstly, it’s a job in a poor economy. We are thrilled he found employment! Secondly, The Mister is awesome. Enough said. So, we are going to wait to see how he fairs before I start making commitments with law firms. I thought maybe I could reopen my old shop for writing jobs and event stationery, at least until Tristan and I are able to launch Besotted Brand.
The reason I never reopened the shop before is that I could not circumvent the printing problems. I am a perfectionist, and with the vendors I wanted to use, I couldn’t price my products fairly and still make a profit. I noticed all these printables/print at home options lately, but didn’t give it a second thought for me until a good friend suggested it as an option.
If you are a graphic designer with experience in running a shop and would like to co-brand with me on some printables, feel free to email me! (You can also leave a comment here.) I haven’t ironed out all the details, but am eager to hear what you think. And, if you don’t do printables but would like to work with me when I get custom clients, also send me an email. I have some ideas about that, too.
Oh, and for those of you who don’t design, what type of shop do you have, if any? Or, do you have any favorite independent online shops you would like to share? Any favorite stationery shops, perchance?

I hope you can find a way to make this work…I would love to see you at home with your boys where you long to be. IMHO going back to law work should be a LAST resort for you. You’ve made no secret that it is NOT your passion **clears throat**

Just to give my totally inocuous 2 cents…I just paid someone on etsy to design my son’s bar mitzvah invitations and then I had them printed somewhere. It was so great! I loved having whatever I wanted AND giving the biz to a stay-at-home mom. Go for it!

Jen, that’s exactly what I am looking to do in terms of printing. The client will be able to take the file to the printer or print from home. If they want something totally custom, that is a different story!

I’ve done some stationary design, but haven’t dived head-first yet. Here’s my shoppe, if you want to take a peek: http://collageobjects.etsy.com. I love vintage, quirks, and fun stuff. Can’t wait to see your new line! I know everything will work out for the best! :)
